Agriculture is the largest sector in East and Southern Africa, yet it faces significant challenges such as poor infrastructure, and global supply chain disruptions, which contribute to widespread food insecurity and poverty in the region.

To strengthen and grow the sector, it's essential to build and scale innovations that support climate adaptation, strengthen value chains, and empower smallholder farmers with a focus on youth and women are key to strengthening the sector and driving its growth.

This report, developed with CGIAR Research Initiative on Diversification in East and Southern Africa (Ukama Ustawi) Scaling Hub looks to identify barriers and opportunities for scaling agriculture innovations in the region that the Hub can focus on to contribute to the milestones of the Research Initiative on Diversification within the region.
